Zeke Walter Burland, 18, of Elmo, passed away Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Deer Lodge, MT. He was born February 29, 2004, in Missoula, MT, to Christine L. Johnston of Elmo and Raven P. Burland of Pablo. Zeke was the youngest of their two sons.
Zeke was raised at the family home in Elmo by his Great Grandfather, the late Albert Caye, and his Auntie/Mom, Alberta Caye.
Zeke attended his schooling in Polson, Miles City, and Texas. He had plans to receive his HISET Certificate from Salish Kootenai College and wanted to be a Bison Graduate with a Certificate of Trade.
Zeke enjoyed listening to music, drawing, and hanging out with friends and family. He had fond memories of riding in the truck with his great papa Albert. He would excitedly wait for him to get home from school so they could go to the woods. Zeke enjoyed his family trips to Buckhorn and the Yaak. He would go on his little adventures exploring the great outdoors and come bouncing back with a smile on his face and a bucket full of berries.
When Zeke was young, you would find him playing with his friends and hanging out with his aunties, uncles, and cousins. Every summer, Zeke would look forward to the Elmo powwow and enjoy summer days swimming across at the lake while usually ending the day with a good ol’ fight with his cousins. One such fight was about who will be playing the pink power ranger. He loved his music and loved to draw. Zeke was getting pretty good with his artwork, and enjoyed drawing in the sketchbook Rosie and Felicity bought him for Christmas.
Zeke always tried to keep a positive outlook and make the best of his situation even with all the curveballs life had thrown at him.
He is loved and will be missed by many in the community, especially his friends and family.
Zeke is survived by his Mother Christine (Elmo), Father Raven (Pablo), Grand Father Brad Eneas (Pablo) Grandma Gennie Old Horn/ Plant (Polson), Brother Ozayo Burland (Elmo), numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Adopted Families, and the rest of the village.
Zeke is preceded in death by his Great Grandfather Albert Caye (late Great Grandmother Elma), Grandmother Geneive Eneas, Uncle Laurence Kenmille, and Auntie Miranda Kenmille.
