Obituary for
William Henry McDermott
William H. “Bill” McDermott, age 93, passed away on May 26, 2016. He was born on August 23, 1922 in Chicago, IL.
He served 4 years in the U.S. Army during WWII. Bill was known for his love of trains. He worked at Bowman Dairy, was a heavy equipment operator for the City of Chicago and later was a school bus driver for eight years in Polson.
He was a volunteer at the hospital for many years and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and on the board of the Polson Historical Museum.
He was preceded in death by his wife Marion Colbert and children, Bill, Christine, Martin and Margie.
He is survived by his wife Joan, children, Carolyn Wehling, JoAnne Doeseckle (Jim), Thomas (Karen), Lawrence (Donna), Mary Kay Michalwicz and Patrick; six step-children, 36 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
