Walter Lyle Jones
Walter Lyle Jones, 84, of Polson, MT, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at his home. He was born September 30, 1925 in LaPorte, Indiana, a son of Harry and Jeanette Mills Jones. He attended and graduated from Kalispell High School and served in the Army with a Field Artillery Battalion from January 3, 1944 through February 26, 1946. After his discharge, he returned to Kalispell and while there, married Winnifred Cleo Bauer that same year. Walter had worked in the logging industry most of his life. He attended the First United Methodist Church in Polson, and loved to hunt, fish and spend time with is family. His parents Harry and Jeanatte Jones, sisters Janice Heise, Ada Leach, and Dorothy Yeager, along with brothers Gary, Don, Dick, and Roy Jones preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Winnifred (Winnie) Jones at the family home: a daughter, Julie (Rich) Paul of Polson: three sons, Jeffery (Debbie) Jones, Randy (Monica) Jones both of Polson and Kevin (Cheryl) Jones of Missoula: three brothers, Harry of Kalispell, Rex of Whitefish, and Ron of Martin City, 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 3:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Polson with Rev. Mark Calhoun officiating. Military Honors conducted by Polson VFW Post #2986 and a reception will follow at the church. In lieu of flowers, Walter's family has requested that donations be made in his loving memory to either the Miracle of America Museum at www.mircaleofamericamuseum.org or to Lake County Home Health and Hospice, 711 Round Butte Rd., Ronan, MT 59864.
