Obituary for Virginia Carroll Smith

Virginia C. Smith, age 75, passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula. She was born on August 1, 1941 in Moscow, Idaho to Lloyd and Avis (Jones) Marshall.

She grew up on the family homestead in Viola, Idaho where she learned that she had a green thumb. She loved gardening, all flowers especially roses were her passion.

She married Floyd Smith on August 16, 1959 in Moscow, Idaho. The couple fell in love with Montana and decided to stay. They moved to Polson in 1985.

She loved cooking for people and worked at Prices Café in Polson for over 20 years. Her other interests included needlepoint, word search puzzles and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was the glue that held the family together. Her selflessness and love of her friends and family will be greatly missed.

Her parents, four siblings and her eldest son David preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband Floyd, son Joe and daughters Barbara and Susan; her grandchildren Faye, Kelsey, Jamie, Justino, Jennie, Shyla, Jill and six great grandchildren, Gregory, Mikaihla, Jacob, Kaydence, Teegan and Graci.

As per her wishes, she is to be cremated and no formal services at this time. She however would like everyone to plant a flower in the spring in remembrance of her joy for life and of new beginnings.

A potluck to celebrate Virginia's life will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Polson VFW.
