Obituary for
Vincent Charles Kubas
Shakespeare said, "Goodnight sweet Prince and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." Vincent Kubas was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, and his life was taken sooner than expected by cancer. His favorite statement was "I am a simple man living a life of silence, simplicity, and solitude." The last of eight children to pass on, he died on Good Friday, March 29, 2013 at his home in Sun City West, Arizona with his daughter and son-in-law at his side.
Vincent was born in Dickinson, North Dakota on November 13, 1933 to the late John and Agnes (née Ridl) Kubas. He received his diploma from Dickinson High School in 1951 and went on to be a successful business man in the men's clothing retail business - dividing his time between Colorado and Montana – and always tried to live life by practicing the Golden Rule.
Vincent enjoyed riding his horses, golfing, dancing, dining with friends, chopping wood, working on his property, and reading. His favorite book was 'The Prophet' by Kahlil Gibran. And, last but not least, he was a loyal and avid Broncos fan.
He is survived by his loving children: his daughter, Pamela Joné Detamore and his son-in-law, Drew Detamore who reside in Arvada, Colorado; his son, Barrett Alan Kubas who resides in Missoula, Montana; as well as two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. In addition to his immediate family there are: two step sisters, Mary Ficek, and her sister Ellen in Yakima Washington; two sister-in-laws, Rita Kubas of Chippewa Falls, WI, and Kaye Kubas of Rockville, MD, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He also had many friends who will miss him in two special places of merit; Flathead Lake, Bigfork, MT where he spent his summers; and Sun City West, Arizona where he spent his winters.
His deceased family members that will be meeting him in the afterlife are: his parents, his loving Grandmother, Antonia Kubas (née Kudrna); his step-mother, whom he always referred to as an angel, Theresa Divorak-Kacalek, and his brothers and sisters Henry, Julia, Robert, Clara, Peter, Mary, and twin brother William (Bill).
Welcome to a final celebration of Vincent's life to be held at the blessed Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish located at 1002 4th Ave. East Polson, Montana on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with a reception to follow. Life may be over but the good times with Jesus are to come into being.
