Obituary for
Victor Eugene McAllister
Victor Eugene McAllister, 73, died at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane on February 18, 2015. Vic was born August 6, 1941 in Polson, the son of Lloyd and Clarice McAllister. He attended elementary school in Pablo and high school in Ronan, graduating with the class of 1960. Vic wrangled horses and guided day rides in Glacier Park for two summers. He married Lois Peel in 1966 and they had two sons.
Vic worked at area lumber mills, did carpenter work ranging from calf sheds to cabinets, and farmed and ranched west of Pablo. He had a love for gardening and always filled up the pantry. His boys both said he seemed to have a knack for showing up when needed even without being asked.
Vic was a member of the Christian Church, served on the FWP citizen's advisory committee, soil conservation board and was a 4-H beef -leader.
Vic enjoyed time spent working at the ranch and made a lot of miles traveling to watch his grandchildren play sports and participate in other activities. He never missed an opportunity to share his passion for ranching, hunting, and fishing with his grandchildren.
Vic loved to creek fish, but his favorite place was Glacier Lake which he and his family have been going to for many years. He enjoyed antelope hunting in eastern Montana and chasing elk and the "wiley white tail" in the Swan Valley and the Big Creek Drainage. A special highlight was harvesting a Bighorn Ram in 2014 after 36 years of applying for a permit.
Vic is survived by his loving wife Lois of 48 ½ years, of Ronan; sons Russ of Kila and Scott (Tammy) of Hot Springs; grandchildren Garrett, Clay, Claire, Elena, Jack and Nick; sisters Linda Barber of Anchorage, AK, Sharon (Bruce) Simpson of Ronan, and Cindy St. Clair of Polson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and his favorite neighbor boy, Luke Horner. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Danny and Chip.
Funeral services for Vic will be held on Monday, February 23rd at Pablo Christian Church at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow at Ronan Cemetery. A reception will take place back at the church. Memorials may be made to "Shepherd's Table" in Ronan, for information call (406)270-5301.
