Obituary for Synneve Randi "Sunny" Reeves

Synneve "Sunny" Randi Reeves (Larsen)(age 92 years), our dear mother, passed on away to heaven on May 17, 2015 at the Village Health Care Center in Missoula, MT. Synneve was born on March 8, 1923 in Oslo, Norway to Richard & Emma Larsen. Mom was the eldest of four children. At the age of 3 years, mom and her family moved to the U.S.A. from Norway. They lived for a while in N.Y.C., Chicago and then moved to Phelps, Wisconsin for a number of years. When she was about 12 years of age, they moved to Polson, MT where she resided until she was about 18 years of age. Her mother had passed away there when she was about 16 and is resting at the Lakeview Cemetery in Polson as is her father, who passed away 20 years later to the day of her mother's death.

In 1943, she married Gerard Beams (dec. 1968), who was in the Navy. They met and married in Couer d Alene, Idaho. They moved to L.A., Calif. in 1947 where they raised four children. They later divorced in 1960. In 1977, after moving back to Polson/Kalispell areas, she married Pierce "Bud" Reeves (her soulmate) whom she had known and met in Northern California several years prior. They resided in Kalispell together until his death in Dec. of 2007. They had an interesting life together, both being very creative individuals and artists.

In their earlier married years, they had a small shop on Main St. in Kalispell-- "Frontier Lamps". Their skills and abilities in creating old western frontier miniature structures, which were either lamps, wall hangings and the like were one-of-a-kind and people from all over the world wanted to take one or two back home with them. Later in their marriage, they lived behind the Museum on Hwy. 93 in South Kalispell where they were the caretakers and continued to make their unique creations. Mom loved to draw/color chalk art pictures of animals, especially wild animals such as deer/elk, bears, tiger/lions, wolves, and the like. She was also very talented in needlework and sewing. She and Bud were always busy making something either to sell, keep or to give away as gifts. Mom also loved to be outdoors working in the yard/garden and walking in nature as much as she could. She greatly loved animals too, especially her cats. She was a very independent lady with a mind of her own!

In 2008, after Bud passed, she wanted to move to Missoula where her eldest daughter resides. Her eldest daughter and family moved her to Missoula in the summer of 2008 to an apt. at the Clark Fork Riverside apartment building. Later she resided with her daughter and family for about a year, but because of the progression of dementia/alzheimer's, was moved into the memory care unit of the Village Health Care Center in Missoula. Mom was a beautiful, talented, creative Norwegian woman, who will be greatly missed by all! Synneve "Sunny", our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend leaves behind three of her four children: Yevon(Dan)Norman, Lolo, MT; Ron Beams, Ronan, MT; Charlene (David) Madieros, Kalispell, MT. The youngest child, Richard Beams, Lewisville, TX sadly passed away in Feb. of this year. Also, she leaves behine nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, all in various different areas of the U.S.. She is preceded in death by her sister, Sonja of Mt. Shasta, CA; her brother, Egil of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister, Evelyn of Phoenix, AZ and her youngest child, Richard of Lewisville, Texas.
Her family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the wonderful people at The Village Health Care Center, Missoula, MT for all their great care-taking and help during these difficult times in these past almost four years that our mother has resided there.
