Obituary for
Steven Rongyocsik
On December 14, 2013 our patriarch, our rock, our beloved grumpy old man, Steven Rongyocsik, passed away and went on to be with our heavenly father after a short battle with cancer. Even though he left Vietnam over forty years ago, he ultimately died from his service to his country succumbing to the effects of Agent Orange.
Steve's life was a study in how to overcome and succeed. Early family life was difficult for him to speak of but he forged a bond with his two beloved sisters. In 1969, he married his beloved, Dolores Jean. Through poverty, through riches, through tragedy and sadness and through the happiness, they forged ahead, each time strengthening their love, their respect, and their admiration. Theirs was an example of true, unconditional love.
Professionally he was a man of some prestige, known for his work ethic, ambition, and success. He was not always easy, but he was always fair and he earned the respect of all he encountered.
Personally, he lived for the love of his wife, his daughter and his grandchildren. The bond he held with his grandson Jason is one of unbelievable love. His greatest gift was his heart, his unusual sense of humor, and his love. He lived to help those he loved and will be missed greatly.
Steve was preceded in death by his son Jason, in 1988 and many treasured family members. He said he couldn't wait to see his son again as he had missed him every day. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; daughter, Stacie Dehart; grandchildren, Jason Rongyocsik and Rhiannon DeHart; sisters, Roxanne Sullivan and Lois Ballinger; niece, LaNita Fitzpatrick; nephews, Grady Sullivan, Alan Booth; sister-in-law, Barbara Basulto, and many more family members who he loved and cherished.
Steve was a ferocious advocate for veterans and an active member of the VFW. In lieu of flowers, Steve would be honored if a donation was made in his memory to assist a veteran in need. He would be most touched by this.
Services are to be held at Grogan Funeral Home on December 27th at 230 pm. Messages of condolences may be shared with the family online at www.groganfuneralhome.com.
