Stanley William Tattle
Stanley William "Stan" Tattle, age 95, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015 at his residence in Polson. He was born on June 16, 1919 in Hannah, North Dakota the son of Charles and Mary (Pust) Tattle.
He was raised in rural North Dakota. He worked as a prospector in Australia mining Opals. He later worked in the silver and gold mines in Nevada.
He joined the Army Air Force in 1942 and served as a turret gun sight mechanic until being honorably discharged in 1946. Following his discharge, he began work as a carpenter; at one time working in East Glacier at the Lodge while living in Essex. He also worked as a potato picker in Idaho and Montana and briefly for the railroad.
Stan was an avid hunter and fisherman and even caught a tagged fish during Mack Days. He also loved to garden and feed the birds that would come to his yard. He was a big nature lover.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Ruby Tattle McPhail, Kathleen Tattle McNaught and Marion Tattle Braaten and one brother James Tattle and one nephew Charles "Gene" McNaught.
He is survived by sixteen nieces and nephews.
There will be a family graveside service for Stan on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson with military honors.
