Sherolynn (Sherry) Kay Ohm passed away peacefully in her home in Keizer, OR on Saturday, March 26, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. Her husband of more than sixty years was at her side as she slipped away to be reunited with loved ones that have gone before her. Sherry was the only child of her parents Ruth and Woodrow McCown, born on August 12, 1942 in Denver, Colorado.
Sherry had a strong testimony of her Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. She was blessed with many talents and abilities that she regularly used to help and uplift others. She met missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints when she was sixteen years old and was baptized December 19, 1958.
Sherry was an excellent student and graduated salutatorian from her high school. She had a life-long love for learning and a passion for reading. She would often read over forty books per year.
Sherry met her husband, Ralph Ohm, while working for the Geological Survey in Denver, Colorado in 1960. Sherry and Ralph were married July 1, 1961 and sealed in the Logan, Utah temple on October 26, 1962. As a loving wife and mother, she raised four children, teaching them to be faithful and kind. She always encouraged her children to seek truth, get the best education, and to share their talents and abilities.
Sherry was regularly engaged in service opportunities and had a talent for organizing groups and friends for charitable causes. She made several lifelong friends through these activities. She loved music and participated in several community musical theater productions, singing groups and musical programs over the years. She passed along her love for learning, service, and music to her children, setting the course for them to enjoy similar pursuits. Sherry was also a skillful genealogist and countless others have benefitted from her exceptional knowledge of family history work.
Sherolynn is survived by her husband Ralph Ohm; her children Shawna Muchmore (Denny), Michael Ohm Aibe), Rebecca Jarvis (Derald), and David Ohm (Cathy); her grandchildren Caitlin Olson (Nathanael), Kyle Muchmore (Whitney), Elizabeth Ohm, Bryan Ohm (Desiree), Janell Ohm (Kyler), Erin Ohm (Mike), Chelsey Caldwell (Bobby); and eight great grandchildren.
Her cheerful smile and positive countenance will be deeply missed by all who survive her, but we also know she is rejoicing with her family and friends who have gone on before her.
A private family memorial service will be held at City View Funeral Home in Salem, OR on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Lake View Cemetery in Polson, Montana.
