Obituary for
Russell Lee Sherman
Russell passed away on May 21, 2015 at his home, of natural causes. He was born July 8, 1951 in Havre, to Gordon and Agatha Sherman. Russ was raised in the Hi-Line area until 1964 when the family moved to the Mission Valley. He graduated from Ronan High School in 1969, where he was an outstanding lineman on the football team and known as the "Sherman Tank." After attending MSU Northern in Havre, he returned to the Mission Valley working at Dupuis Lumber and later Plum Creek Lumber.
Russ married the love of his life, Joan Bocksnick, in October of 1972. They were blessed with five children Toni, Tomi, Cody, Jami, and Josi, who learned the art of hard work from their father. Together, Russ and Joan, built their family farm. They raised beef cattle and had a large hog operation for many years. Russ loved farming and ranching and even though he was unable to do the physical work the last three years, he was still very active in the day to day operations of the farm. He was always willing to give advice.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. A "Papa" to his 12 grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Jami, brothers Larry and Ron, his parents, and honorary daughter Lea Ann Larson.
Survivors include his wife Joan, daughter Toni (Quincy) Taylor of North Carolina, daughter Josi (Thomas) Brosam of Dillon, daughter Tomi (Jeff) Clairmont, son Cody (Libby) Sherman both of Ronan, and sisters Donna (Mike) Molzhon and Shirley Burland also of Ronan.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday May 26th at 11:00 am at the Ronan Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 35663 Terrace Lake Road. Please join the family for a reception immediately following the service.
