Obituary for Roy Vernon Winters

Roy Vernon Winters, age 76, passed away at his home in Polson, MT on February 18th, 2013 with his children at his side. He is survived by his brother, Art Winters; children, Brian Winters, Michele Farnsworth, and Marlette Torras; and grandchildren, Andrea, Samuel, and Rochele.
Roy was born in Fresno, CA to Melton and Frankie Winters in a dust bowl migration camp, where as a child, he picked fruit for $.10 a day. Roy was a high school football right tackle at Reedley High School. Roy was also a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army ROTC.
He worked as a carpenter most of his life but also had many other diverse career fields. Roy worked as a welfare fraud investigator for the state of Nevada and while he was attending Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Mill Valley, CA, Roy worked as a correctional officer at San Quentin State Prison.
Roy also attended Bethany University and worked at Yosemite National Park as a bus driver, graduated from broadcasting school and was awarded an honorary doctorate degree in Theology from Simpson College in Redding, CA.
Later in life, he worked for Wells Fargo and Pinkerton Security and also received a degree in psychology and wanted to be a counselor. Roy also had his own parsonage at an Assembly of God church and built a home in Twin Harte, CA.
