Obituary for
Rose Mary Riebe
Surrounded by her family, mom died peacefully on Sunday, September 23, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. She was 77. She was not only a pretty woman but also a beautiful person.
She was born (in the car on the way to the hospital) to Henry and Olthenia Mitchell on May 22, 1935 in Los Angeles, CA. Her mother was very upset when the nurses wrapped mom in a scratchy wool army blanket to take her into the hospital.
She met and married Donald Jacobson in 1951. They had six children born in three different states and after 23 years of marriage were divorced.
In 1974, she married Francis A. "Flick" Riebe and they had 37 wonderful years together. They loved to square dance and travel with trips to Hawaii and Europe.
After her kids were older, she worked at Scott Brown Photography, Prices Café, B&B/Fred Meyer, and Cherry Valley School, all in Polson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter June Rae, and granddaughter, Jana Lynn Campbell.
She is survived by her loving husband Flick, her five children; Jeri Lynn (Roy) Sturm, John (Twilla) Jacobson, Jill (John) Campbell, Judy Jacobson and Jodi (Martin) Bishop; granddaughter, Janelle Coleman whom she raised; three step-sons, Dick (Sue) Riebe, Ted (Betty) Riebe, and Russ (Kathy) Riebe and their families.
She is also survived by her four siblings; Irene Bullock, Joy (Abe) Day, Ethel (Mel) Lemon and Jerry (Marilyn) Mitchell, 8 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations can be made to Polson United Methodist Church (301 16th Ave, Polson, MT 59860) or the American Cancer Society (3550 Mullan Rd, Missoula, MT 59808)
Memorial services will be held at the Polson United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 29th at 11:00 am with a luncheon to follow.
