Obituary for
Ronald Day Knapp
Ronald Day Knapp born September 6, 1959 in Kalispell, MT to Harold and Gail Knapp moved on to his happy hunting and fishing grounds on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.
Ron was an avid hunter, fisherman, and passionate bird-watcher. He could easily identify birds by their songs. His wife's family nick-named him the 'Nature Nut'.
Ron had many good outdoor memories with his family being raised in Upper Miller Creek along with his neighbors and friends, the Elkins, and also doing ranch work for the Waldbillig brothers.
In high school, he had the privilege of wrestling under coach Jug Beck at Sentinel. He graduated in 1977 and moved to Alaska shortly after to work alongside the Ward brothers, Dave and Bob, and enjoyed the Alaskan lifestyle for many years. The only way his parents could convince him to come back was to have him build their dream retirement home overlooking beautiful Flathead Lake. It worked. He completed it in 1994 and that is when he met his loving wife, Twila.
Ron re-established his tile business and quickly became known for his artistic ability and unique style. He and his wife worked on many projects together including building their own home south of the Pablo reservoir.
Ron was a man of character and great teller of true stories stranger than fiction of his many adventures in life. His was honest, kind hearted, generous, good natured and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Preceding him in death, are his parents.
He is survived by his wife Twila, three step-children, Jennifer Potts, Jessica Potts and Crystal Azure; grandchildren, Nolan, George, AuRaya, JuDaya, Isaiah, and Olivia; his mother-in-law, Arla Azure, passed just 24 hours after Ron; also surviving him are brothers Duane, Greg (Karon), Larry (Greg), and sister Karleen (Steve); nieces, Shauna, Desiree, Annie, and Lily and numerous grandnieces and nephews and cousins.
No funeral services are planned. A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Ron's life is being planned for this coming summer.
