Roger D. Peterson

Roger D. Peterson, 94, of Polson, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2013 in Polson, of natural causes.

Roger was born November 26, 1918 in Spokane, WA, to Julius M. and Olga S. Peterson. He attended grade school at Hinsdale and graduated from Great Falls High in 1937, U of M in 1941, and Officer Candidate School in 1942.

On May 23, 1942, he married June Forte of Polson. In July, he went to the South Pacific for 24 months. After WWII, he served in Korea and then the Naval Torpedo Station at Keyport, WA, the 9th and 12th Marine Corps Districts and Camp Pendleton, CA, where he retired in 1966. He and his family returned to their Montana home.

Survivors are his wife, June; children, Marsha Coldiron, Jan Peterson, Maureen Jenkins, Randi Peterson, Gail Smith; grandchildren, Elaine Gore, Scott Coldiron, Darrin Coldiron, Kiley Peterson, Paul Jenkins, Krystal Krause, and Kai Smith.

Funeral services were held September 21st with full military honors at the Lake View Cemetery in Polson.
