Robert Reginald DePoe Jr.
Robert Reginald "Bob" DePoe Jr. was born April 4, 1956, and returned to his Heavenly home November 20, 2015.
Robert was born to Robert Reginald DePoe Sr. and Rita H. Couture in Wallace, Idaho. He was raised in the Polson and Hot Springs area. During some troubled times in his early childhood, Robert acquired the roles of protector and leadership to his siblings. He loved his family and was always concerned for each of their well beings.
Robert was a loving husband to his wife, Becky and a teacher and provider for their sons. His daughter also looked to him as an example. He was a devoted grandfather to his eight grandchildren.
Robert learned the value of work early in his life working on the family ranch in Hot Springs. That trait continued throughout his life. Some of his occupations included, laborer in sawmills, truck driver - anhydrous ammonia, crude oil, gasoline, and logs. On the weekends he hauled hundreds of cords of firewood! For the past 22 years he has worked as Head of Maintenance for KwaTaqNuk Resort. He also served as a Reserve Officer for the Lake County Sheriff's Office.
Robert was proud of his heritage as a member of the Salish Kootenai Tribes. He also was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormon).
Robert will be best remembered for his work ethic, his sense of humor and his commitment to his values.
Robert is preceded in death by his son, Curtis Roy DePoe and his parents.
Robert is survived by his wife of 40 years Becky (Gwilliam) DePoe, their three sons; Robert Reginald DePoe III (Jamie), Daniel Glenn DePoe (Mandie), Rodney Shawn DePoe (Tiffany) and his daughter Shannon Salisbury-DePoe; eight grandchildren, Nathan, Neah, Shawn, Ashlynn, Isaac, Nicholas, Kalin DePoe and Ryder Perot.
Robert's siblings include: Debora DePoe, Fredrick DePoe, Carol DePoe (Tom Lankford), Corky Sias (Theresa), Sharon Cannon (Tony Earthboy), Charlie Cannon (Jessica), Curtis Cannon (Shelly), Joe DePoe, Amy DePoe.
A viewing and dinner for Robert will be on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. with dinner at 6 pm in the SKC Camas room. Funeral services for Robert will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 1202 4th Avenue East in Polson. Burial will follow services at the Elmo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Salish Kootenai College Infrastructure Fund.
