Obituary for
Regina Parot
On Tuesday July 17 2018 our beloved Matriarch Regina Joan Parot passed away peacefully at her home. Regina was born December 14 1935 to Louis and Anne Dupuis in St. Ignatius. She was the youngest of two children. Her older brother Ray Dupuis passed away in November 1978. Regina is a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai tribes.
Regina graduated from Polson High where she was a majorette. She enjoyed the outdoors fishing, hunting, picking huckleberries, fish fries, family gatherings, the "Shovel Camp", the Jocko, the lake, sporting events, Pow Wows and fireworks. After high school she attended Haskell Institute where she met her husband of 63 years Frank Parot Jr. She also attended Montana State University.
After attending college she worked 35 years for the Bureau of Indian Affairs. She worked hard for Indian people throughout the Northwest and Alaska. Her knowledge in her work provided first class service to everyone providing financial services to Indian people through the Credit Department.
She has two sons, Robert and Randy Parot, 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. She loved all of us to the moon and back. She blessed all of us with her unconditional love and support every day. She never stopped fighting for the future of not only her children but for the future of all children. Regina was a strong woman who knew when to be tough and when to be loving and supportive. Her strength was knowledge, devoting her time educating herself to be the best in her field of work and family. In her recent years she's enjoyed scrapbooking, family tree research, online shopping and Facebook.
The Creator definitely put his best foot forward when Regina was born. She may have been small in stature but her heart was as big as the universe. She showed the ultimate character of compassion, forgiveness and generosity throughout her entire life. It was a blessing to have her in our lives all these years.
Now she is watching over us from "The Happy Hunting Grounds" where she is walking, running, jumping and dancing around with our ancestors.
Funeral services for Regina will be held on Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tribal Senior Center in Polson followed by a service on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial will follow services at Lakeview Cemetery.
