Raymond P. “Sonny” Addington passed away on December 31, 2018 at St. Luke Community Hospital in Ronan, Montana surrounded by his family. Sonny was born in Randolph County Indiana on March 14, 1939 to Raymond L. Addington and Eileen McClure.
Sonny’s early years were spent on the family farm. He followed in his Father’s footsteps, always wanting to be a truck driver. He began his lifelong career at the age of 17. With his friendly outgoing nature, he touched the lives of many as he traveled six million accident-free miles coast to coast.
Sonny was an active member of local clubs: Masons, Scottish Rite, Royal Arch Masons, Bagdad Shrine, Jesters, Order of Eastern Star and Elks. He was potentate of Bagdad Shrine in 2001 and held various other positions.
Sonny enjoyed time with his family, driving, donating time to charities, watching old westerns – especially John Wayne movies, and playing card games.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, a step-daughter and four grandchildren.
He is survived by Fay - his wife of 30 years, siblings: Deola (Glen) Bond, Linda Sue Chapman, Mary Lou Beltz, and Johnny Addington; Children: Monica (Steve) Lloyd, Liane (Kevin) Clairmont, Ramonda (Anthony) Morency, Stephen Addington, Chris Tomayer, Al (Chris) McKay, Dee McKay, Bud (Crystal) McKay, Son-in-law: Dan Clairmont, 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held January 12, 2019 from 12:30 to 4:00 PM at the Masonic Temple located on 4th Ave E in Polson, MT. A buffet will be provided. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, 911 W. 5th Avenue, Spokane, WA 99204.
