Myrna Maughan Taylor

June 23, 1955 — June 24, 2020

Myrna Maughan Taylor was born in Lewiston, ID, June 23, 1955. Myrna passed away June 24, 2020. The seventh child of William Rex Maughan, and Julia Marie Smith Maughan. Her parents had 14 children total. Her name, Myrna, was from one of her father's sisters.

After being born, her family moved to Round Butte, west of Ronan, MT. She had many growing up experiences with hiking in the river breaks, and playing on her grandfather’s farm. Granny Smith Thelin was Julia's mother from Canada and Portland, OR, and was very involved in her life. She spent lots of time traveling to church events in Charlo, MT., snowing, and muddy driving conditions on the Crow Dam road. She attended her schools in Round Butte, and Ronan, MT.

Myrna was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at age eight. She served in many church callings such as playing the piano for Junior Sunday School primary and MIA. She also played the organ for Senior Sunday School. She also taught primary and was a ward missionary.

Her father was able to move the family to a home east of Ronan, up by the Mission Mountains. This became their permanent home. Myrna was able to enjoy lots of Mormon missionaries visiting. Several of the sisters married these returned missionaries. Myrna remembers many times of boys coming to date her and her sisters. She truly enjoyed all of her siblings and extended family of aunts and uncles, and went to all of her family reunions. Her and her sisters played and sang for many of the dances that her parents played for. Myrna had three brothers which was joyful after having so many sisters, they were able to have some boys join the family.

On October 29, 1977 she was married to Timothy A. Taylor in the Idaho Falls Temple. Myrna and Tim were able to travel around a lot doing Tim’s school teaching jobs. She settled with her family back in Ronan, for us kids to attend Ronan schools.

Myrna's family and her church, were the center of her life.

She was dedicated towards raising huge gardens, sewing quilts, and teaching piano lessons. She also did a paper route for many years. She grew a lot of her own food. Her summers and falls were spent canning, freezing and dehydrating food. She wanted to be very self-reliant like her family.

She was a kind person, being a peacemaker while growing up in her large family. She worked hard from a young age. She was working on remodeling a house while living in Uniontown, WA. And also, worked on remodeling her home in Ronan and fixing up the property, and adding an addition. For the last three years, her and her husband have been living in Polson, MT.

Myrna’s siblings are Sheila, Sandra, Diane, Mary, Janet, Karen, Judy, Bill, Shirley, Joanne, John, Sherry, and David.

She is survived by her husband Timothy A. Taylor, her children Jason (Kari), Benjamin (Tristin), Abraham (Alisha), Mary Ann (Deric), and Hyrum. Myrna loved her many grandchildren and her one great-grandchild.

Myrna’s graveside service was held at the Ronan Cemetery.
