Obituary for Mildred Lorrain Fisher

Mildred Lorrain Parker Fisher, 93, passed away peacefully in her sleep, from natural causes, Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015. She was a patient at the Polson Health and Rehabilitation Center and formally resided at Polson's St Joseph Assisted Living.

Mildred was born November 22, 1921 in Dickinson, North Dakota. She was the first of three children to Charles and Ida Parker. She attended grade school and high school in Dickinson, North Dakota, graduating in 1939. She attended Dickinson State Teachers College along with her high school sweetheart, Gordon Fisher. In April 1944, she and Gordon were married at Fort Rucker Alabama. They lived in a studio apartment there until Gordon was sent over-seas due to WWII. Park (nick-name given to her by Gordy) returned to Dickinson. In March 1945 son Jerry was born. Gordon did not make it home until December 1945. The Fisher family soon moved to Chicago allowing Gordon to complete his optometric education. In September, 1947, the family moved to Polson, MT where Gordon opened his optometric office. They were excited to live in a small community with a golf course that had grass greens rather than sand greens. Three more children were born in Polson, Jeff, Jon, and Laurie. All four Fisher children are Polson graduates and were active Polson Pirates.

Park was active in many things including church, golf, cub scouts, den mother, hostess for dinner party and bridge. She was a constant fixture on the Polson golf course, reaching out to many who were new to the game and mentoring those who needed it. Park was ladies club champion more than once and her first hole in one came in 1988. In 1976 she became the church secretary at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and held this position for seventeen years. Park and Gordon travelled to Guatemala on a mission trip to help those in need and answer the call as a Christian. Park and Gordy spent their retirement years traveling in the U.S., and also visited England, Scotland, and the Holy Land. They wintered at Apache Wells Golf Community, Mesa, Arizona for several years.

Park will be remembered for her wit, sense of humor and hospitality.

She is survived by brother John Parker (Sandy) Lynwood, WA, sister Charlotte, Aurora, CO. Sons Jerry (Pat), Jeff (Jennifer), Jon (Pam) and daughter Laurie Gregory (Dennis). Park also had ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Cremation is under the care of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory, Polson. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Polson. Father Gary Reller presiding.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission Valley Christian Academy, 38907 HWY 35, Polson, MT 59860 or of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank all her caregivers.
