Obituary for
Michael Abraham Hewankorn
Michael A. Hewankorn, 44, began his journey home on July 16, 2017. He was born on May 21, 1973 in Hot Springs, Montana. He was the eldest of eight children born to Geri Hewankorn. He was raised by his grandparents the late Al and Patricia Hewankorn at the family home on Dayton Creek.
Michael had many passions in life and was always happy to share his knowledge with anyone who wanted to pick his brain. He loved heavy metal music and love going to concerts and have jam sessions with his fellow band mates. He also loved to drum and sing with the Chief Cliff Drum group.
Michael was a kind and gentle man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need.
Michael received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Entrepreneurship and worked for the Kwataqnuk Resort, Kicking Horse Job Corp and most recently the Tribal Education Department where he found his niche mentoring young adults entering college.
Michael is preceded in death by his grandparents, Al and Patricia Hewankorn, aunt Josephine Lefthand.
He is survived by his mom Geri Hewankorn; his brothers Brian (Gabby) Hewankorn, Jeremy Gibson, Daniel (Carman) Gibson, Brandon (Kat) Gibson; Randy Quequesah and sister Ashley Hewankorn (Frank); also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; his companion Lucia Loomer.
The Wake for Michael will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at Elmo with a Rosary at 8:00 P.M. and his funeral service at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at Elmo with burial at Dayton Cemetery.
