Mark Dooley of Polson MT, beloved husband, grandfather, stepfather, son, brother, and uncle, passed away from complications after esophageal cancer surgery at the age of 65 on February 7, 2025, at Billings Clinic in Billings, MT.
Mark was born on September 13, 1959, to Matt & Colleen Dooley in Oildale, California where he joined brothers Tracy and Dennis. The family lived in Bakersfield and Oroville, CA until they moved to Montana in 1967, where the family remodeled and lived in the old Proctor Hotel. Cousin Michael Dooley joined the family in Proctor and became the fourth Dooley brother through adoption. Mark attended grade school in Proctor. When Mark was 13, they moved into Polson where he attended Polson High School. Mark played football at PHS and graduated in 1977. Mark lived in Idaho while his parents were living in Kellogg and enjoyed getting together with fellow Harley Davidson lovers for bike trips. Mark enjoyed carpentry and auto repair and owned a construction business in Polson. Mark’s love of all things, tools and construction led him to his most recent position at Rocky Mountain Twist as a machine operator for the past 11 years. He retired last year to focus on his health and enjoy time in his beloved shop.
Mark, like his brothers, followed in their father Matt’s footsteps as members and officers of the Mission Valley Elks Lodge. Mark worked his way up to become an Exalted Ruler of the Lodge, just as his dad and brother Tracy had before him. Brother Dennis was the Leading Knight and brother Mike was Inner Guard.
Mark married Sandy Davis on June 6, 2015, in Cataldo, ID. They purchased a beautiful home in Valley View, but it was missing one thing - a shop. Mark, along with family and friends, built a huge shop and garage. Mark’s “man cave” was one of his favorite spots to relax.
Mark’s love for motorcycles never ceased, and he and Sandy enjoyed many bike trips together. Mark and a group of friends in Idaho formed a motorcycle club called The Procrastinators. Mark and Sandy often got together with those friends both in Idaho and Polson.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Matt, brother Mike, stepdaughter Amanda Dodson, and sisters-in-law Marion Noble Dooley, Barbara Vargo and Renee Davis.
Mark is survived by his wife, Sandy, step-children Nathaniel Allen and partner Kimberly Marsh, Jennifer Haney and husband Dave, and Beth Allen, son-in-law Allen Dodson, step-grandkids Mackenzie, Zoe, Max, Michael, Taylor, Riley, Dylan and Otter, mother Colleen, brothers Tracy and wife Cindy, Dennis and partner Jennifer Thomas, sister-in-law Janet “Corvette”, brothers-in-law Charles and Ray Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory in Polson.
