Marie Theresa Haglund
Marie Theresa Haglund, 97, of Polson, passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Polson Health and Rehabilitation Center. Marie was born on January 25, 1920 in St. Paul, MN, a daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara Haider. She graduated high school in 1937 in Willmar, MN and after her graduation, Marie worked as a nurse’s assistant at the Willmar State Hospital caring for mentally ill patients. Later, she attended the St. Francis School of Nursing in Breckenridge, MN, graduating in 1945 as a Registered Nurse. Marie worked as an RN for over 20 years in various Minnesota hospitals.
Marie married in Paul D. Cory in September, 1957 in St. Paul, MN. The couple later moved to Bigfork, MT and built their home in Ferndale. Paul passed away in December, 1988. Marie then married Vernon A. Haglund on June 15, 1997 and resided in the Woods Bay area for six very happy years until Vernon passed at the age of 90 in October, 2003. Marie then moved to Polson in 2004.
Marie enjoyed all of nature and was an avid “fisherwoman”. She loved gardening, crocheting, sewing, and was an active member of the Ferndale Sewing Circle for 30 years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. She will be missed by all of her very special friends.
Besides her parents, and her husbands, Paul and Vernon, she is preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Clara Strutz of Minnesota, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 29, 2017, 12:10 PM, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Polson. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Polson.
