Margaret Mary Elliott, aged 91, passed unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 10, 2021. She was born December 9, 1929 in Roosville, MT.
Ms. Maggie was a long standing and beloved community member of Elmo, Montana. As one of the few remaining Elders that spoke fluent Kootenai, she worked at Two Eagle School as a Native Language educator, helping to preserve her culture for the next generation. She was loved and loved others in return; Aunty, Mom and Cousin to many. We know, she will be missed by her many friends that shared smiles or laughs along the route to purchase her weekly supply of magazines, coffee while playing her favorite machine at the casino, and constantly on the hunt for a good deal. While her sweet smile and quiet demeanor may have been the Maggie many knew, those closest to her knew how adventurous and free spirited she was. Harley rides at 90, wind in her hair, bugs in her teeth and the feel of the sun on her face.
She is preceded in death by her husband William B. Elliott, her sons Donovan Auld and Gene Elliott, and her Siblings, Edna Buckman, Rose Morigeau, Lillian Helmer, Donald Auld, Victor Auld and Ruth Ann Auld.
She is survived by her extensive family; Claude Auld of Lethbridge A.B., Joan Hutchison of Fernie B.C., Debra Hagerud of Hosmer B.C., Tanna Choi of Elmo MT, William Elliott of Elmo MT, and Kelli Knapp of Butte MT. Her legacy is extended through her 18 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 10:00 am at Elmo Hall. Burial to follow at Elmo Cemetery.
