June Signe Syvrud
June Signe Syvrud, age 79, of Polson passed away at her home on Saturday, August 12, 2017 of natural causes.
She was born to Haaken and Ethel Tosterud on June 1, 1938 in Bismarck, ND. She graduated from Bismarck High School in 1956 and attended Concordia College in Moorhead Minnesota.
At an early age music became an integral part of her life. In High School she played in the band and sang in the choir. She was student director of the choir. As a teenager she was a guest soloist in a professional dance band.
On February 2, 1958 she married Robert Syvrud of Mandan, ND when he was a student at WSU in Pullman, WA. The couple lived in Alberta, Canada moving on to Mandan, North Dakota and Palo Alto, California before moving to Polson in 1973.
June taught elementary and middle school music in the Polson School system for about 20 years. She also loved singing in musical shows at Port Polson Theatre. She played leading rolls in many musical productions. June directed several church choirs since 1962 and was currently the choir director at Polson Community Church.
As a young girl she received Jesus as her personal savior and that relationship enriched her life and was the core of her unending lifelong friendships.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, two sons and their families. Kevin of Helena and children Haaken (Jessica), Keegan, Jabin, Ayanna and Malachi. Eric (Dana) of Missoula and children Ciera and Soren. Daughter Susan of Polson and Sisters Dorothy of Helena and Barbara of Juneau, AK.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Martin.

A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1002 Fourth Ave. E, Polson MT on Saturday August 26th at 11 a.m. Reception will be held at the church immediately following the service.
