Obituary for Joyce Carol Carlyle

Joyce Carole Carlyle, 76, of Polson passed away on Monday, January 5, 2015 at her home in Polson with her husband at her side. She was born on January 8, 1938 in Polson to John and Beulah Wigfield.
She worked during her high school days at the local J.C. Penney's and graduated from Polson High School in 1955. She attended Modern Business College in Missoula. In 1957, she met and married Marvin Carlyle. They moved to Bozeman where Marvin was attending Montana State. Their son Craig Carlyle was born in 1958. Joyce began a long employment career.
Joyce was the credit manager and desk clerk for the Diana Shop. In 1960, Saveway Drug, Roecher Drug and Gallatin Drug employed her as file clerk and customer sales.
In 1968, Marvin and Joyce were divorced. She then went to work for the Baxter Pharmacy as the cosmetic buyer and record keeper. Opportunity came again and she went to work for the large department store Chambers Fisher as cosmetics buyer. She was there for 14 years until the store changed owners. The Bon Marche just opened a store in Bozeman and Joyce did not miss a day of work when she went to work for the Bon in the cosmetics department for the next two years. Again the opportunity came to her at the University as head cashier.
On March 1, 1984, Joyce received the sad news that her son Craig Carlyle died. Joyce and Marvin worked together closely for the funeral services for Craig and fell in love again. They were remarried after being apart for 17 years.
In 1988, Joyce went back to work again. She had a part time job with the Credit Bureau out of Kalispell. She also worked for Doreen's Dress Shop in Polson until it closed. With the need for collections high, she went to work for Check Collect for the next four years.
Joyce missed the customer contact and decided to go back to work in retail sales. She worked for Boutique in Polson and Applause in Bigfork for the next two years. She then worked for the Savior Fair Dress Shop in Polson.
The last 14 years, she worked for the Family Health Pharmacy and Gift Gallery in Ronan. Joyce always said how lucky she was as she never applied for a job and always stayed working.
In 1987, two teenage brothers, Doug and Wyman became a part of Marvin and Joyce's family. Their mother was killed in a car accident. Doug and Bill are both now married. Doug and wife Heidi; their daughter Mia and sons Marcus and Michael live in Oak Harbor, WA. Bill and wife Jennifer and their three sons, Trae, George and Max live in Polson. The Wyman families, Marvin and Joyce have always felt very lucky to be an extended family.
The family heritage for Joyce is very amazing. She was ½ Norwegian, 1/8 English, 1/8 Scottish and ¼ Cherokee card carrier.
Joyce was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Soroptimist, Masumola Club, Business and Professional Women's Foundation, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Nile.
Joyce is survived by her husband Marvin, her sister Joan Scarcella of Long Beach, CA; her two honorary sons, Doug and Bill Wyman and their families, many nieces and nephews and many great- nieces and nephews.
Urn graveside services for Joyce will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at Lakeview Cemetery in Polson. A luncheon is planned following the service at 12:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church at 40401 MT Hwy 35 in Polson. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Mission Valley Animal Shelter, 36251 N.
