Obituary for
Joyce Boon
Joyce E. Boon passed away peacefully the evening of Wednesday April 11th, 2012 at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell, MT. Joyce was born November 25, 1929 in Libby, MT. Joyce grew up in the Libby area but in her adolescent years went to live with her Aunt Helen in Polson. Joyce graduated from Polson High School as Valedictorian. It was in Polson that she met Edwin (Sonny) Boon. Joyce and Sonny married in 1949 in Polson, which is where they started their family and where the first four of their eight children were born. The family moved to Somers in 1958 where four more children were born. Joyce moved back to Polson in 1977 where she held jobs at the Driftwood, Shafer's Department Store, Pauline's Dress Shop, and finally Cherry Valley School. Joyce had a special place in her heart for children, especially those who seemed less fortunate or deprived. Every now and then, one of Joyce's kids will run into one of those children from Cherry Valley and a memorable story of 'Mrs. Boon' will be told. Joyce's children are Tom (Debbie) of Dallas, TX: Sonja Waddell (Doug) of Locust Grove, GA: Dan (Jan) of Somers: Tina (Larry) of Spokane, WA: Jack (Dee) of Kalispell: Rich (Bonnie) of Ferndale: Fred of Thompson Falls: Beth (Brent) of Polson. Joyce has fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Joyce will be remembered for her love of flowers, quilting, sewing and music. She spent many hours in her yard with her flowers. She was a fabulous cook and homemaker. Her children recall that they never missed a meal, were never hungry and always had nice clothes to wear ... many of which were handmade by Joyce. Joyce had several health issues in her later years, thus it is a blessing that she is now in a place where... 'God will wipe away every tear from her eyes: there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.' A memorial service will be held Monday, April 16th at 10:00 A.M. at Polson Community Church. Grogan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In memory of Joyce and her love of flowers, the family would like to invite those attending the service to wear brightly colored, or flowered attire. In lieu of flowers at her service, the family would like to suggest that people make a donation to their favorite charity.
