Obituary for Joseph James Johns

Joseph J. Johns passed away May 5th, 2013 at his home of natural causes with his family by his side. He will be greatly missed and loved by all.
Joseph was born April 4th, 1930 in Luzerne, PA to Joseph J. Johns Sr and Grace Freeman Johns. Joseph joined the Army May 5th, 1947. He served our country until January 20, 1950. During his time in the Army he served at Flint Hill Farm and was stationed in Virginia and South Carolina. He was involved in WWII and earned the World War II Victory Medal. He left the Army as a Sergeant.
Joseph worked for the US Government starting in 1957 until 1973. During Joseph's time working for the Government he met and married Euva Pritt in Culpeper, Virginia. They got married April 4th, 1958. From 1973 until 1981 he owned and operated a grocery store. In 1981 through 1985 Joseph owned and operated a Chuck E. Cheese Franchise in Ocala, FL. and sidelined as a real-estate agent in Culpeper, VA.
Joseph was a master at wood working as well as everything else, except baby diapers. He really enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing bridge.
Joseph is preceded in death by his father Joseph J. Johns Sr., his mother Grace Freeman Johns, and his sister Gertrude Novitski. He is survived by his wife of 55 years Euva Pritt Johns; son Joseph M. Johns (Lauri); daughters Grace Lee (Brad), and Sandra L. Licciardello (Ben); grandchildren by age; Dawn Hane, Chanel Bartel, Tiffany McCrea, Benny Licciardello, Joe Broom, Dominic Licciardello, Mario Licciardello, Enrico Licciardello, Angelo Licciardello, Jericho Licciardello, Nicholas Licciardello; 3 great- granddaughters and 6 great-grandsons.
There will be a public viewing for Joseph on Thursday, May 9th, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Pablo Baptist Church. The service will be held after the visitation at 2:00 pm at the Pablo Baptist Church. Pallbearers for Joseph's service are Wade Bartel, Richard Zubowiez, Shawn Hane, Brad Lee, Joe Broom, Jim Krause, and Joey Johns. Burial will take place immediately after the service at Lakeview Cemetery with full military honors. After the burial the family would like friends and family to meet back at the Pablo Baptist Church for a reception.
