Jay Michael Clark
Jay Michael Clark, age 49, of Polson, MT, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at St. Patrick Hospital.
Jay was born February 21, 1965 in Helena, MT to Constance and Michael Clark. He attended school in Gillette, WY., Denver, CO., and Missoula, MT. where he graduated from Loyola Sacred Heart High School in 1983. While in school, Jay was on the swim team, wrestling, and basketball.
In 1983, Jay enlisted in the U.S. Navy which took him too many different places. He especially liked his duty in Guam.
After returning to Montana, he attended Salish Kootenai College and received an Associate Degree in Environmental Science.
Jay worked many jobs growing up in Denver and Missoula. He worked on the fishing boats in Alaska for 2 years. He also worked as a firefighter on the reservation for several years. He worked construction and as a painter for many years in and around the Flathead Lake area.
Jay was an avid hunter and spent many hours hunting with his family. He was most at home in the woods.
He loved music and was a self-taught guitarist. He sang many songs to his grandchildren. From country to jazz he loved all types.
Jay spent 26 years with his partner of life, Lucy Vanderburg, whom he later married and loved her children and grandchildren as his own.
Jay is survived by his wife, Lucy of Polson; son, Xavier Joseph of Elmo; mother, Constance Clark Foust; step-father, William Foust; brother, Josh Clark; sisters, Jeanine Rosier and Jill Baldry; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Jay was preceded in death by his father, Michael Clark.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Jocko Catholic Cemetery in Arlee, MT. Father Drew Maddock will be officiating.
