Jamie Barnaby
Jamie Pierre Barnaby entered this world on November 6th, 1954 in St. Ignatius, MT. Born to John "Bud" Barnaby and Anna Pierre Mitchell, she grew up mostly in the care of her aunt and uncle and also the late Martha Gardipe of Plummer, Idaho. Jamie went to school at Ursulines Catholic Church in St. Ignatius, MT. After her schooling she met and married Gary Unruh on December 5th, 1973. They lived in Missoula, Mt and had their first born son Jonathon Unruh on October 31st, 1974. Their daughter Brandy Unruh was born on October 5th, 1978. They moved to Port Angeles, Washington due to Gary's job at the mill and Jamie worked several jobs. Gary and Jamie separated and then she became a Corrections Officer at Clallam County Correctional Facility. Jamie later moved to Seattle, Washington and worked for Boeing, she met and married Arthur Stewart of Crow Agency, MT they later divorced and she came home to Pablo, Mt where she attended Salish Kootenai College and received her AA Degree. Jamie was the proud grandma of Max Unruh, Ashton Unruh and Sotara Barnaby, who she raised in Pablo. Jamie loved animals, the color purple, Tyler Perry movies, powwows, playing pool, sewing, reading, swimming and spending her days with her friends and family. She had many brothers and sisters and nieces, nephews and cousins who she loved. One of her greatest joys was selling Tupperware and meeting all the wonderful women at vendor events where she could laugh and socialize. Jamie was preceded in death by her sisters Mary, Valdena and Kathleen Barnaby and her sister Tommie Mitchell, her brother Louis Barnaby and her father John "Bud" Barnaby and Martha Gardipe. Survivors include her son Jon Unruh (Ashley Unruh), daughter Brandy Unruh (Pat Sutherland), sister Freda Bearleggins, her niece Lacey Head and nephews Tony Barnaby, Caleb Cooper, Raymond Black Weasel, and many more. Also her brothers and sisters and mother Anna Mitchell. Max and Ashton Unruh and her granddaughter Sotara Barnaby. She passed away due to an infection in her kidney on April 4th, 2014. Kwelu is Salish for Butterfly and she will be flying among them. There will be a wake at the St. Ignatius Longhouse Monday April 7th at 9 am, her services will be Tuesday at 10 am followed by a meal, and her Rosary will be at 7 pm.
