Obituary for Helen C. Spencer

Helen C. Spencer, 91, of Polson, MT and formerly of California, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 26, 2011 at St. Luke Extended Care Center in Ronan, MT. She was born in Anniston, Alabama on September 1, 1919. As a child, she and her family moved to southern California where she me and married James B. Ross and later had two children, Anne Shirley ad James Lee. Helen went to nursing school and worked for 18 years as a surgical nurse at St. Luke's Hospital in Pasadena, CA. Her husband James passed away in 1965. She later married Herb H. Spencer, Sr. in 1969. Herb Sr. passed away in 1985. She is survived by her daughter, Anne Shirley (Jim) McDevitt of Polson, MT: her sons, Larry (Carole) Spencer of Chula Vista, CA, and Herb Spencer, Jr, of Banning, CA: granddaughters, Lettie Gibbs of Vista, CA, Laurie (David) Cline of Arizona, Lillian (Daniel) Terry of San Bernadino, CA, Carla (Jay) Azling of Villa Park, CA, Cheryl (Matt) Fry of Redlands, CA: grandsons, Craig Cannon of Bishop, CA, and Steven Cannon of Vancouver, WA, as well as eight great-grandchildren and eight great great-grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service and celebration of Helen's life will take place in California later this year. The family would like to thank Dr. William Cullis and the entire staff of St. Luke's in Ronan for their care and concern over these past few days and years.
