Obituary for
Helen Marie Rhine
Helen Rhine, 68, of Polson, passed away, Sunday January 10th surrounded by family.
Helen Marie Silva, was born to Helen Matt, on July 10, 1947 in St. Ignatius, MT. She was the baby sister to six protective siblings earning her life long knick-name "Baby Doll", even having a boat named after her. She was a proud tribal member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes.
Baby Doll married the love of her life, Chuck Rhine, at the hitching post on her 24th birthday. According to Helen, her children Curt and Rhonda were her pride and joy. However, becoming a grandmother provided years of bragging rights and ear piercing whistles during their sporting events. Baby Doll was a matriarch of the family. She was the glue that bound the family together by cooking wonderful meals and playing card games. She loved and enjoyed shopping, yard sales, and antiques.
Baby Dolls love for cooking inspired her to open her own restaurant BOJO'S CAFÉ in Bowie, TX. After moving several times with her family Baby Doll longed to settle down in her hometown of Polson, Mt. She began to work at Tribal Health for several years before finding her niche working as a family advocate for Early Childhood Services, where she met many life long friends. Her cheerful and positive attitude brought joy to everyone she met.
Helen is survived by son Curt Rhine of Polson, daughter Rhonda (Wayne) Arndt of Sherman, TX, Grandchildren Chase Rhine, Carston Rhine, Caden Rhine, Katrina Farley, and Hailey Arndt; Brother Dick Silva and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Rhine, her mother, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral Services for Helen will be at Pablo Christian Church in Pablo, Mt on Friday January 15th at 2:00pm with a reception immediately following at the church.
