Obituary for
Hazel Steinert
Hazel Irwin Steinert passed away to be with the Lord on June 1 in Polson.
She was born at Roundup to Lyle and Violet Irwin and spent her early years in Billings before the family moved to Ronan. She attended Ronan High School and graduated as salutatorian of her class in 1949.
She felt God's call to prepare for a spiritual ministry career and became part of the newly organized Christian and Mission Alliance Church in Ronan where she met Arnold Steinert, who also felt God's call to his life. They married in 1951 and attended Canadian Bible College in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, and then began their 40 years of pastoral ministry.
Hazel's life passion was exhibited through her gifted Bible teaching ministry and by her leadership as district-wide President of Alliance Women and as the church pianist.
As a teenage girl, Hazel placed faith in and received Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord. This spiritual reality characterized her life and ministry.
Hazel's children and grandchildren enthusiastically affirm that her most loving and Christian principled life has inspired and guided them as well.
Her life is celebrated by her husband Arnold; their children: Susan (Randy) Hodgins, Timothy (Violet) Steinert, and Crystal Pratka; grandchildren: Emily (Austin) MacDonald, Sandra Hodgins, Thomas Hodgins, Aaron Steinert, Kael Steinert and Miranda (Andrew) Bley; and great-grandson Galen MacDonald.
A celebration of life memorial service is planned for Aug. 9 at Terrace Lake Community Church at 2 p.m.
