Harold Joe “Bubbins” Irvine, age 76, passed away March 15, 2023, at St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson. He was born January 22, 1947, in Polson MT, to Stanley Irvine and Cecille Matus. He was a proud member of the Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribe.
He grew up in the Arlee and Valley Creek area and attended school in Arlee. He enlisted in the Navy and served during the Vietnam Conflict and received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.
After Harold returned from the service, he met and married Monica Neuman and they had one daughter. They later divorced. He later met his partner Denise, and they had one son. He relocated to the Elmo area and made a life with Lydia Hewankorn, taking on her three children as his own.
He was an avid horseman and took great pride in his horsehair artistry and other crafts.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Juanita; his brothers Robert, Arnold, LeRoy and Gerald Irvine and Ronnie Matus.
He is survived by his brother Lloyd Irvine, stepfather Walter Matus, daughters, Twila Irvine, Seneca Stanger, Kiowa Incashola and Terry Hewankorn; son Ronald Irvine; grandchildren, Taylor Abasta, Charlize Guerrero, and Chalet Guerrero; Amadeus, Paul and Daizey, and many other relatives.
