Obituary for
Glenda Marie "GaGa" Burke
Glenda "GaGa" Marie Burke passed away on August 29, 2013 in Hot Springs. Our "GaGa" was born on November 23, 1955 to Dennis Burke and Louise Caye in Republic, Washington. GaGa was born into a large family and, early on, she became her mom's good helper. GaGa was raised in the Elmo area, surrounded by her extended maternal family, the Cayes and the Aulds. She was also raised in Nespelem, Washington where she bonded with her paternal family, the Burkes, Swans and Falcons.
Even though GaGa never had any children of her own, she was ever present in the lives of every one of her many nieces and nephews. Additionally she cared for many other children in every community she ever lived in. She leaves behind many people who were graced by her presence on this earth. We will be eternally grateful for all she did for us and our children.
In1982 GaGa went on the adventure of her life when she moved to Akutan, Alaska to work for the Trident Seafood Company. She remained in Akutan for several years before moving back to Montana.
GaGa loved to cook and she loved to feed people. We're worried for the folks in Hot Springs now that she has passed on, wondering who will be feeding the many she cooked for there. GaGa had a big heart for a lot of people, young and old. She loved to smile and laugh and people around her responded to her love of life.
GaGa was an accomplished pool player, the top in her league many a time. And she loved to play softball.
GaGa was preceded in death by her parents and a baby brother, William. She is survived by her brothers Clifford (Shannon) of Ronan; Francis (Bonnie) of Pablo; Mike (Geraldine) of Polson; Marlin (Tracy) of Big Arm; Tyrone (Gail) of Ronan; Reuben (Nyia) of Dayton, Leonard "Whiskey Joe" of Omak, WA; sisters Clarissa, Clarinda, Marcella and Wilma "Beana." She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews, her goddaughter, Kiowa Incashola of Elmo, her uncle William "Butch" Burke (Dorothy) of Nespelem; aunties Carol and Cookie of Omak, WA; Lucy Caye of Elmo; Aggie Caye of Polson and her many cousins and friends from far and wide.
Rosary will be recited Sunday, September 1, 2013 at 8 p.m. at the Elmo Community Center. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday September 2nd in Elmo. Burial will follow at the Dayton Cemetery. Grogan Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
