Obituary for
Gerald Lee "Jerry" Sampson
Jerry L. Sampson was born on October 14, 1929 to Sam and Esther Sampson in Long Beach, California and passed away on July 10, 2015 at the age of 85 in Polson, Montana with his son and daughter at his side.
Jerry married the love of his life Ruby in 1950. Together they had two children. They had been married for almost 63 years when Ruby passed away in January 2013.
Jerry served in United States Army in the late 1940's. Among Jerry's favorite things in life were family vacations, fishing, golf and spending time with family and friends. There was nothing more important to Jerry than his family. He formed a very tight and special bond with us at a very young age that has remained with us throughout our lives.
In 1956 while on a family vacation, Jerry found a dirt road that led to Lake Mary Ronan. From that day on, it became one of the focal points of family vacations. In 1980 he bought a home on the lake and in 1986 Jerry and Ruby moved to Lake Mary Ronan when he retired.
Jerry was predeceased by his dad in 1988; his mom in 2012; his older brother George in 1982, and his nephew Russell Sampson in 2013.
He is survived by his son Roger Sampson, his daughter Geri (Charlie) Cribbs; two grandchildren Robert (Robin) Cribbs and Geri Lea Cribbs, three great-grandchildren, Skyelar, Faith and Gabriel Cribbs; his nephew Michael Sampson, his sister in law Murl Johnson and many cousins in both Minnesota and California.
Jerry always looked at life from a positive point of view. He often spoke about having a wonderful life and family and lived life to the fullest.
Our family wishes to thank Dr. Steve Irwin for the wonderful care that he gave to both Mom and Dad and other family members over the last 25+ years. We are very grateful for the unwavering support he has always extended to our family.
At Jerry's request, there will be no services.
