Obituary for
Gerald Ray Anderson
Gerald Ray Anderson, age 55, of Polson, Montana, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Polson. He was born on June 7, 1962 in Polson to Merle and Carol Anderson. He was the oldest son of their 4 children.
Gerry attended Polson public schools and graduated from Polson High School in 1982. After high school he joined the Navy and was given a medical honorable discharge after serving three months. He moved back to Polson and lived his entire life in the Mission Valley, most of it on the family farm and worked at various jobs including the Flathead Lumber Mill, construction and helping out on the family farm where he was always willing to lend a hand to get things done.
Gerry especially loved the holidays and all the family gatherings where he always was the first one to show up and the last to leave. Playing games during these occasions will never be the same without him. He had various hobbies that he really enjoyed doing and talking to everyone about. He built model airplanes, collected and built model trains, gardening and canning vegetables and was an avid fisherman who was always ready to “wet a line”. He was never married or had any children of his own but he always treated his nieces and nephews as if they were his own children.
Gerry was preceded in death by his father Merle C. Anderson, his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.
Gerry was a much loved son, brother, uncle and great-uncle and is survived by his mother Carol Anderson, his sister Lori Peterson, his two brothers, Dana Anderson, Alan (Kelly) Anderson and our special cousin/ brother Brent Prendergast; nieces, Marki Devlin, Nicole (Devin) Kamarainen and Peyton Anderson; nephews Logan (Ciarra) Krantz and Ryan Anderson and a great-niece Joclyn Cass; great – nephews, Ari and Silas Kamarainen; uncles Robert “Bob” Brown and Lloyd Iliff and numerous cousins.
We will all greatly miss you “Fuzz” and your enthusiasm and laughter will never be forgotten.
Cremation has taken place and Gerry will be laid to rest with his father at the Ronan Cemetery with his family and close friends attending. There will be a celebration of Gerry’s life on his birthday next June. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in Gerald’s memory be made to Wing’s Regional Cancer Support, P.O.
