Gavin John Davies

We are immensely saddened to announce that our son, Gavin John Davies, passed away unexpectedly with his mom and dad on January 16th, 2025. Gavin, born a twin on June 22nd, 2011, had a difficult future ahead after being born at only 24 ½ weeks old. He surpassed his twin brother of 4 months, after being given a less than 1% chance of living.

Gavin became a bright and unique soul that left us too soon at the age of thirteen. This loss is completely unexpected, and our family mourns Gavins passing greatly.

Gavin had an infectious smile, laughter, and a personality that could light up a stadium. His strength and courage could inspire anyone and there is no one that he met that did not fall in love with him instantly. He made friends wherever he went, and he was a bright shining light in everyone’s lives who had the ability to be around him. Gavin enjoyed spitting applesauce on mom, listening to music, being read books and spending time with his family and friends. He was absolutely in love with listening to dad’s race cars, boating with family, and squigging on the floor with balloons and his dog Axle. He also enjoyed being a teenager by watching funny videos with his cousins.

Without the ability to verbally communicate, extreme physical disabilities, severe epilepsy and developmental delays, Gavin was able to experience what most boys his age do, and he influenced others to meet challenges head on. With everything set against him he continued to fight every day and still found a reason to smile. Through the family that did not view him as disabled or different he was able to overcome all the odds and bring love and happiness to everyone one around him. The vast support and welcomeness shown to Gavin by his community and neighbors at every place or event that he attended was overwhelming.

Gavin is survived by his dad and mom Griff and Melina Davies of Polson, MT, sisters Kiana Bache (Coltyn), Kirra Snyder (and niece Katelyn) of Polson, MT; grandmothers Sandra Davies of Missoula, MT, Ida Corrigan and aunt Kimberly Corrigan of Polson, MT; uncle Dale (Mandy, cousins Max and Merick); aunt Sasha (Orest) cousins include Ariana, Ethan, Aleksandra, Maxamillian, and Natalia. Gavin had a large group of friends and family who loved him unconditionally and he was loved by many more aunts, uncles, cousins, and family friends, of whom there are far too many to list but are still extremely special.

Gavin was preceded in death by Griffith Howell Davies V, grandma Lorraine Frost, and Griffith Davies III.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 10:00 am and a funeral service at 11:00 am, all at The Lake Funeral Home. Burial to follow at Lakeview Cemetery.

There will be a celebration of life in his honor this summer on his birthday for family and friends.
