Francis Richard "Chief" Kis
Francis Richard Kis, 95, of Polson, Montana, passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017. He was born in Gold Creek, Montana, on May 9, 1921, to Ernest and Mabel Kis. Francis served as a U.S. Marine in the South Pacific during World War II, and loved to share stories of his time in the military. Following his military career, Francis ultimately returned to Polson, Montana, and became a Police Officer for 5 years. He was appointed to Chief of Police of the Polson Police Department, where he faithfully served an additional 25 years, until his retirement.
Francis was preceded in death by Amilou Betty Kis, his wife of 56 years, and siblings, Eleanor, Martin, Alvin, Willie, and Betty. He is survived by his children and their families, Kathy Pallone of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, and David Kis of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by siblings Louie, Hazel and Julia.
A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, March 9, at 10:30 AM at The Lake Funeral Home in Polson. Donations in his memory may be made to Semper Fi Fund https://semperfifund.org/
