Eugene Mark Felsman age 76, passed away December 18, 2024, at his home in Ronan, Montana. He was born May 16, 1948, in St. Ignatius, Montana the son of Mark Marion Felsman and Gladys Matt Felsman. He is also the son of Don Erwin Dilworth and Mary Elizabeth Dilworth. Eugene has six brothers: Don Evan Dilworth, Ferrel Dilworth, Dennis Felsman, Douglas Felsman, Terry Felsman and Mark Francis Felsman. He has six sisters: Ina Dilworth Lee Scott, Eileen Dilworth Rapp, Carla Dilworth Bayley, Melissa Felsman, Anna Beth Felsman and Twila Felsman.
Eugene grew up in Montana, Idaho, Utah and California. He graduated from Victorville High School in Victorville, California. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints from 1967-1969 in the Western Canadian Mission and the Montana Billings Mission. Following his mission, Eugene continued his education at BYU and was a member of the ROTC.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in History from Idaho State University, he served in the United States Army at the rank of Second Lieutenant. He served 14 years in the military with 7 of those years with the Montana National Guard as an officer.
He married Sherrill Allison Keith on April 29, 1977, and had three children, Naasson Jule Felsman, Wakina Dawn Felsman and Numkene Wilford Felsman. Eugene continued his education and obtained a master’s degree from the University of Denver in Library Science. Sherrill and Eugene later divorced. Eugene later married Lillian Bullshield. They divorced. Eugene worked for the Salish Kootenai College and various other jobs on the Flathead Indian Reservation.
Eugene loved his Indian heritage. He attended and danced at many Pow Wows. He loved doing genealogical research for his own ancestors and for other people of tribal heritage. Eugene loved music and played the piano and guitar. He loved to sing but was a little on the tone-deaf side.
Eugene will be missed by his family and friends.
Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Mark M. Felsman, Gladys Felsman, Don and Mary Dilworth, and by his siblings, Don Evan Dilworth, Ferrel Dilworth, Mark Francis Felsman, Anna Beth Felsman and Twila Felsman.
As per the family wishes Eugene will be cremated and will be buried in the Blackfoot, Idaho Veteran Memorial Cemetery with full military honors. There are no memorial services planned at this time.
