Emily J. Lau
Emily Julia Lau, 85, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital on June 30, 2011. She was one day short of being 86 years old. Emily Julia Hansen Lau was born July 1, 1925 in Pablo, Mont. She was the third of three sisters born to Emil and Minnie Hansen. She graduated from Ronan High School in 1944 and then worked at the Polson Safeway store. She married Richard 'Shorty' Lau on December 12, 1944. Emily worked in the Polson public schools for a number of years, retiring from the Cherry Valley School. She did volunteer services with the Polson Senior Center and was in charge of the refreshments and money at the Senior Dances at the Polson Elks. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star Mystic Chapter #53 in Polson, Mont. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Shorty in 1983. She is survived by her daughter Carol Lau of Polson: and son LeRoy and wife Charlotte Lau of Lakeside: sisters Edna Elder of Polson and Elsie Culver and Bob of Polson: brother-in-law Ray Lau of Three Forks, grandson Robert and wife Beth and great-grandaughter Samantha Lau of Wind Gap, Pa.: granddaughter Stacey and husband David and great grandchildren Shaylin, Tierney and Logan March of Citrus Heights, Ca. and several nephews and nieces and cousins. Private graveside services for the family will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Polson Senior Center, Mission Valley Animal Shelter, or the organization of your choice.
