Dorothy Applas

Dorothy Sandefur Applas, 93, of Mockernut Court, died at 3:53 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at Brown County Health & Living Community.
Dorothy lived in the Fairland area of Shelby County before moving to Polson, Montana. She was a member of Kappa Delta Phi and Disciples of Christ Christian Church. She enjoyed social groups, reading and writing letters, gardening, flowers and embroidery as well as car trips on the weekends.
Calling will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. A funeral will be Wednesday, February 26, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Grogan Funeral Home in Polson, MT, and burial will be at Ronan Cemetery in Ronan, MT.
Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
Born in Shelbyville May 25, 1920, Dorothy was the daughter of Carl Sandefur and Bertha Watkins Sandefur. She married Harold Applas Jr. who preceded her in death in October 2012.
She is survived by a stepdaughter, Donna (Richard) Purvis, Columbus, IN; grandchildren, Heather (John) Anderson, Pekin, IN, and Shawn (Kyle) Purvis, Columbus, IN; and great-grandchildren, Logan and Dawson Petro, Shelby, Kaylee and Johnathan Anderson, and Mollie and Makenzie Purvis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a brother, Norman Sandefur.
