Dora Grace Ratzburg was born May 15, 1923, in Conrad, MT to Ernest Karl Ratzburg and Iva Moreland Ratzburg. Dora passed away at St. Luke Extended Care in Ronan, MT on February 27, 2023.
Dora grew up on a wheat farm east of Conrad with four older siblings, Malden, David, Irma, and Augusta. Being quite a bit younger than her siblings, she developed a close relationship with her parents. Memories of her mother making lunch, we called it dinner then, for her father every day, helping her mother in the garden, and waiting for her father to come out of the field for lunch.
Dora attended elementary school at Central School in the country, whereby the way many of her nieces and nephews also started their education. She rode her horse Molly to school 2 1/2 miles one way. Dora went on to graduate from Conrad High School. She stayed with family friends during the week and went home on the weekend. She attended college in Bozeman, Havre, and Missoula.
We nieces and nephews really enjoyed the fun times we had with her. Swimming, riding her horse, and going to movies. She took some of us on a trip through Yellowstone. And she made the most beautifully decorated cookies at Christmas time.
Dora was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Malden and David, and sisters Irma and Augusta.
She is survived by her nephews, Ernie Ratzburg, Dayle Ratzburg, Karl Ratzburg, and Clark Choate, and her nieces, Fay Addington, Karen Quaschnik (Ken) and Donna Skelton.
