Donald Irvin Stanfield Jr.
Donald Irvin Stanfield, Jr.,63, passed away on Saturday April 23rd in Polson, MT. He was born on December 7, 1947 in Orange County, California to Donald and Lillian Stanfield. From California they moved to Great Falls, MT, where he graduated from Great Falls High. He attended and graduated from MSU. He met his wife, Kathi Martin at a single's Bible Study in Bozeman. They were married on January 22 , 1977, and lived in Bozeman, Kalispell, and Polson. Together they raised a large, loving family who will miss him dearly. He loved and understood computers and built his first computer while he was still in high school. He was self-employed as a computer consultant and developer for many years, traveling the nation. He also taught Computer Science at MSU. He most recently was a para-professional at Polson Middle and High School. He was greatly liked by the students there, who nicknamed him 'OG Stanfield' for 'Old Guy Stanfield.' He really enjoyed working at Wal-Mart as it allowed him to visit with Polson citizens and students. Don was an incredibly smart man, with a great sense of humor. His dry comments often left people wondering whether or not he was serious. He had many interests and talents. He was a gifted musician, playing the trumpet, bass and piano. He had a passion for taking to the skies. He had his pilot and glider's licenses, and went sky diving over 200 times. He loved airplanes and trains. He spent time outdoors: hiking, camping, boating, and off-roading in his Willy's. He also loved skiing and for years his children's home school PE class consisted of taking them to the slopes. He was very skilled in tennis, bowling, and racquetball. He became an Eagle Scout, and was a Boy Scout leader in Bozeman. His parents, Don and Lillian Stanfield, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Kathi, whom he was married to for 34 years and his children: Jodie Dugan, Pamela Lavering, Kristine Stanfield, Lilly Anne Stanfield, Donald Stanfield III, Casey Stanfield, Katherine & Roseanne, his son-in-laws: Brian Dugan, Eric Lavering, and three grandchildren: Ryan, Davon, and Adara Dugan. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. ' 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 29th at the Grogan Funeral Home, Polson. Funeral services will be at New Life Christian Center at 4:00 p.m. Friday.
