Deanna Marie Vassar
Dee Vassar, 79, of Polson Montana and formerly of Trona, California, passed away surrounded by family on May 23rd, 2018
Deanna was born October 16th, 1938 in Big Pine, California, to Pete and Lillian Garner. Dee grew up and graduated from Lone Pine High School in 1957 where she was a cheerleader, majorette, drum majorette and homecoming queen.
Dee married Howard Vassar September 11th, 1961 and settled in Trona where they started their family and together built a successful business until they retired in 1982 and moved to Polson, Montana.
Deanna was a Den Mother for Boy Scouts, and a long time dedicated Girl Scout Leader. She and Howard were sponsors of the Little League Football program and avid Trona High School Boosters. She was dedicated to her children and attended all of their many activities.
Dee was an avid swimmer and water skier, she enjoyed camping, bowling, sewing and crafts. Dee loved music and dancing. Her leisure time was spent reading and cross stitching. She was passionate about her children and others' and is fondly remembered to many as "Aunt Dee" to them. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren however, fondly remember her as Granny Darlin'.
Dee is preceded in death by her husband Howard Vassar, parents Pete and Lillian Garner, her bothers Buddy and Terry Garner, and her sister Mitzi Jean.
She is survived by her children Renee Morgan (Larry Morgan), Radean Vassar Boden (Ryan Boden), Howard "Howdy" Vassar (Debbie Sargent Vassar) and Tina Vassar-Buser (Mike Buser); seven grandchildren Chad Morgan, Jill (Morgan) Marlow, Aaron Morgan, Amber (Caraway) Hultman, Rainee Vassar, Christopher Vassar and Caitlyn (Vassar) Rose; thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by her eldest sister Alice Sweat, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018, 11:00 AM at The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory, 101 Sixth Ave. E., Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Dementia Society of America at www.DementiaSociety.org/donate.
