David Joseph Reid, age 95, formerly of Polson, went home to his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. He was born on December 7, 1927, in Queens, N.Y., the son of John and Beatrice (Jeffrey) Reid.
When he was 3 years old his family moved to Polson, Montana where he lived most of his life. In 1945, Dad enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country during WWII. He was called back into service in 1950, during the Korean War.
In 1947, he married LaDene Forman. Four daughters were born to this union; Diane (Ed) Clark, Gloria Mellor, Wanda (Kyle) Karstens and Lora (Ken) Smith. Dad had 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. When this marriage ended, he married Josephine Beatty from Idaho.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one great – grandson.
Dad had a soft heart for all children and animals especially dogs. He loved hunting, fishing and camping but most of all his Lord and his family.
He was a jack of all trades but spent most of his life as a carpenter and retired as a custodian in the Polson Public School System in 1989. Dad had a great sense of humor, and we will always remember his corny “D.J.” jokes.
