Obituary for
Daniel W. "Scott" Barber
Daniel Wayne Barber (Scott), 70, passed away at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane, May1 5th 2014. He was born number six with a total of seven siblings. Scott was born July 3rd 1943 in St. Ignatius.
Scott is survived by his loving wife Sharon and best friend of 48 years; sons, Scott (Kim) and Shawn (Tammi) of Ronan; granddaughters Mariah (Austin), Madison, and Lindsay; grandson Braden, great grandson Eastyn, 3 step- grandchildren, Andrea, Siera, and Nic (Kayla; sisters Bea Noble (Bob), brothers Sam (Charlene), and Tom (Gail; numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in law Betty of Pinehurst, ID and Linda (Lawrence) of Coeur d'Alene, ID.
Proceeding him in death were his daughter Stevie, parents Emanuel and Ruby, brothers Dick (Linda), Jim (Judy), Sisters Pat and Sherry (Joe).
Scott was a member of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. He was very proud of his heritage, and his hunting and fishing rights. He's pride reflected that in his artwork.
Scott loved to play golf, bowl and throw horseshoes with his wife Sharon and his many friends. He was very creative with his artwork, carving animals out of moose horns, figures out of cottonwood, and paints pictures on tree conks. Always gave everything away. He also loved to hunt, fish, and go camping with family and friends.
Scott was always thinking about everyone else and making sure they were okay. He loved to tease and joke with the little kids. "Uncle" Scott was always there to give them a laugh or cry.
Scott graduated from Ronan High School in 1961. He served in the Navy from 1961 to 1964. He attended Philco Electronics School in Mountain View, California in 1968-1969. He worked for Plum Creek in Pablo for 30 years. CSKT Tribal Housing for 8 years. Scott and Sharon were married August 28th, 1965.
Scott will be cremated and no services are planned at this time. A Memorial will be announced at a later date.
