Clifford W. Luke
Clifford Walter Luke, 75, of Polson, MT, passed away on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Pines of Polson. Clifford was born on June 17, 1936 in Kalispell, MT, a son of the late Leroy and Vivian Moore Luke. He was a 1954 graduate of Polson High School and served in the Army Reserve. In 1956, he married Roberta Wilhelm in Libby, MT. In his early years, Clifford worked in logging and after completing high school, he worked at the Texaco Station in Polson. He later started working in heavy construction with many road projects throughout the state. Clifford helped work on Libby Dam as a crane operator during its construction. He was a 30 plus year Operating Engineer for Local 371. He enjoyed working on the family farm and doing mechanical work on old cars and was a member of the Spark and Throttle Car Club in which he was a Ford Thunderbird collector. Clifford was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was the happiest tromping through the forest hunting, cutting wood, and camping. If he wasn't doing something, that meant he was usually up to something. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Bill, and a granddaughter, Amber. Survivors include his loving wife, Roberta 'Bobbie', of Polson: two daughters, Marilyn (Lynn) Cooper, and Colleen Oden, both of Polson: two sons, Ernie (Jo) Luke of Columbia Falls, MT, and Kenny (Diana) Luke of Pablo, MT: a sister, Carol Richmond of Kalispell, MT: two brothers, Ralph Luke of Polson, and Duane Luke of Melbourne, FL: and nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren that he deeply loved. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made in Clifford's name to the charity of one's choice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2011, 3:00 PM, at Grogan Funeral Home, 101 Sixth Ave. E., Polson. A reception will follow at the funeral home following the service.
