Clarice H. Onsager passed away peacefully on May 3, 2020 at the age of 90 at Polson Health and Rehabilitation in Polson, Montana of natural causes.
She was born November 27, 1929 in Northwood, North Dakota to Adolph and Sophia (Erickson) Thingelstad. She grew up in the home her father built and was joined by brothers Eugene and Luther. After graduating from Northwood High School, she attended college at Augsburg in Minneapolis, Minnesota. On June 19, 1949 she married Bernard Onsager, had daughter Cheri and son Alfred. They raised their family in the Twin Cities Area. In 1967 they moved to Ronan, Montana where their children graduated. She worked for Hanson and Granley as the bookkeeper. She loved to work and had 2 jobs in 59 years.
Clarice loved reading, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She played organ and piano very well and accompanied at church for over 70 years. She attended church regularly until entering the nursing home. Family and friends will remember her for her deep faith, musical talents, and her sense of humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sophia and Adolph, her brother and his wife, Eugene (Bud) and Barbara Thingelstad, great nephew, Jesse Kimes, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She is survived by her brother, Luther (Judy) Thingelstad; her daughter, Cheri (Guy) Rowbury; her son, Al (Carol) Onsager and their children; Troy, Joel and Robyn (Shea) Carlson; grandchildren Andrew and David Onsager, Colette Onsager and Addison and Corben Carlson. She also left many nieces, nephews, relatives, and beloved friends.
A memorial service is planned for May 20, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Ronan with Pastor Seth Nelson presiding. Due to the Covid-Virus, there will be limited seating and health protocols in place. She will be interred later this summer at Ronan Cemetery.
