Obituary for
Christina J. Vandeberg-Buckman
Christina Vandeberg – Buckman, our beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend, left us to dance in the sky with the angels on March 20, 2014. She leaves behind her beloved little girl Sookie, her siblings, Michelle (Travis), Sarah, Jonas (Kayla), Joni and parents Glen Buckman and Jolene Shortman. She loved her nieces and nephews and was proud to be known as their professional auntie. Azur (Manny) Buckman, Braydon and Darian Williams, Nathan and Zion (Za-Za) Bird, Xavier (Javier), Xaxon (Ducky), Xzarius (Zar), Rylie and Ezrah Buckman, Teyjah (Kaizer) and Donovan (Bon) Beeks.
Christina was born on the Fort Belknap Reservation in Harlem, MT and moved to Polson, MT at a young age, attending school and graduated from Polson High School in 1999. She was avid in sports during her schools years being at a young age being introduced to girls softball, being coached by several fine residents of Polson and of course her parents. She was a team player for volleyball, basketball, track, but her passion was long distance in cross country for Polson as a proud Pirate, coached by none other than Mindy Harwood. At the age of 14, she qualified for the Wings of America, Northwest Team to participate in the National Junior Cross Country Meet, held in Boston, MA, her being one of the youngest competitors running against college level runners.
Upon graduation, she lived in several places, which included Harrisburg, IL, where she attended Barbizon Modeling School in St. Louis, MO. Her other residences were, Madisonville, KY; Wayneburg, PA; Pikeville, KY, Madison, W.V.; Craig, CO and of course Montana.
During her adventures, she worked as a professional server, as she liked to say, also for Applebee's, Sonic, Olive Garden and in Polson, for the fine local businesses of Subway, 4-B's, Regatta Pizza, Papa Don, Pop's Grill and the Kwataqnuk Resort and will be remembered by her smile.
Her hobbies included walking Sookie, scrapbooking, dancing, wearing sparkly jewelry, beautiful headbands and being at the park with family and friends.
Celebration of Life for Christina will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Grogan Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
